It is important to know what the various solutions offer in terms of solar, the type of system vs generators and battery back-up options that are available.

Talon 6.5kVa petrol generator

The most common of the solar options is the grid-tie system. It is more important to know that this particular solution, is a cost saving one and NOT A LOAD SHEDDING SOLUTION. As indicated, it is tied to the Eskom grid and while the grid is operating, basically sends a pulse letting the inverter know that the grid is on line. When the grid goes down, so does your power. Unless you have a generator or some form of back-up, you will not have power during load shedding and/or failures.
