It didn’t take a Neil deGrasse Tyson to see this one coming. The beginning of load shedding saw early adopters taking the plunge into solar/back-up systems. The continued decline of the energy availability factor (EAF)Β and the impact this was having on businesses and homes saw the uptake increase substantially over the next few years.
Worsening load shedding began impacting severely on quality of life at home and at work. The Covid pandemic didn’t provide anything in the way of relief and Eskom certainly has not made the most of their opportunity to service their numerous units. More importantly the various state sponsored corruption channels have not been addressed besides a couple of token prosecutions…
The many ineptocratic municipalities are beginning to feel the losses as increasing amount of electricity revenue is lost as the trend towards self-reliance gains momentum. Water is already our next crisis as 30 years of administrative corruption and incompetence at all levels of government rusts what’s left of any existing framework and government employees hide behind theΒ governmental wall of anonymity and non-accountability.
