Politicians are built on promises they cannot keep and have no idea how to actually get something, anything, done. Despite the promises you may hear about how load shedding is being resolved, the facts are vastly removed from the rhetoric. Revisiting previous posts, we made the statement that Eskom has a rapidly diminishing number of paying customers and will soon be left with government customers that wont pay and social grant customers that cannot pay.
This was echoed last week by ex-CEO Andre de Ruyter.
Government quite simply does not have the skills, the budget or the acumen to get Eskom right. The private sector is quickly filling the void created by decades of government ineptocracy, cadre deployment and rampant corruption.
Eskom has not been a viable business for some years now and while government hangs onto the bare thread still attached, it is just a matter of when the thread snaps and another ANC run SOE is another welfare employer for the ruling party.
