The tax breaks have been around for a while, essentially a system snaller than 1MW can be written off in the same year, a system larger than 1MW can be written off over 3 years 50%/30%/20%.

It is important to note that while the article refers to a grid-tie system, that particular type of system uses Eskom grid as a refereance point. This meand that if you are being load shedded or maintenance, you PV will not work!

You will need a hybrid system in order for the solar to carry on working, or another method, perhaps a system that will make use of your existing generators in this event.
