A very recent photograph had a meeting between a trade unionist (Mantashe), a pharmacist (Gordhan) and a lawyer (Ramaphosa) having a meeting about finding a solution for the country’s largest electrical engineering issue!
No electrical engineers were anywhere in the vicinity of the meeting (many were harmed in the making of the minutes (if they exist)). When you have a major roadblock in the form of Mantashe who does not have the capability or political will to fix the many Eskom issues, you are on a road to nowhere.
There are many ‘quick’ fixes available if you actually bother to execute instead of the verbosity that naturally aspirates from a politician, pontificating about endless committees and proposals whilst getting nothing done. Talk is not cheap, it is extremely expensive, if only the ability and the actions could match the rhetoric.
Instead of blaming the board, perhaps its time to place Mantashe and Gordhan on notice, after all they are ultimately responsible.
